Alia Bhatt is a mirror image of Rekha from 'Silsila' in a blush pink saree for the 'Umrao Jaan' re-screening

In a soft, blush pink Tarun Tahiliani saree, she brought to life another iconic look of Rekha's, from the movie Silsila. She channelled the nostalgia and grace from the star's yesteryear cinematic persona onto the red carpet. Right from the neckline of the blouse with tonal embellishments to the custom drape, she radiated an effortless kind of elegance that was every bit romantic as it was feminine.

The meticulously styled ensemble, complete with a matching vintage-style custom handbag, wasn't the only play on accessories for this ensemble. She paired dangling feather earrings with her saree, which cinema and fashion enthusiasts will both recognise were inspired by Rekha's character from the film, too. 

Perfectly topped with a smudged kohl, a mini black bindi, long wavy locks and Alia's signature pink lipstick, what made her look resonate deeply wasn't just the aesthetic, but the sentiment. Her portrayal in Silsila, particularly in that unforgettable pink saree scene opposite Amitabh Bachchan, has long been a part of Bollywood's cultural memory.
