If we were to talk about 70s fashion, whimsy, polka dots, colourful, and more descriptions would definitely come up. One of the Bollywood divas to sartorially rule during this decade was Zeenat Aman. With a successful filmography that includes blockbusters like Don, Heera Panna, and Hare Ram Haree Krishna, many interesting looks emerged from these works. While her personal style may be more nuanced, her on-screen fashion is everything we expected out of a 1970s masala flick full of glamour and retro extravagance at its peak. While Zeenat Aman is busy promoting her new Netflix series The Royals, we take  a look back at her most incredible movie fashion moments from the yesteryears.

 1. Hare Ram Hare Krishna

The most-loved trend of 2025 – boho chic – originally belonged to the 70s decade of fashion, when hippie culture was at its peak. Zeenat Aman styled herself in one of the most iconic fashion looks of Bollywood with hippie threads and rose-tinted sunglasses. She wore a printed yellow dress with a slit on the thigh of one side while dancing to one of the most popular tracks from Indian cinema i.e. Dum Maro Dum.

 2. Yadoon Ki Baraat

While performing the song Chura Liya Hai from Yadoon Ki Baraat, the veteran actress rocked both; the guitar and the dress. Styled in an ivory jumpsuit, Zeenat Aman got the old money trend right before it was even a thing. This look is a class in power dressing, paired with a black choker and dangling earrings for the right amount of glam.

3. Ajnabee

Dancing in Rajesh Khanna's arms in a backyard while it rains, was a dream for many when Ajnabee hit the screens. Aman showed us how to do sleepwear in style. She wore a white sleep gown over a blush pink nightdress with bow details. The long sleeves and ruffled hem added to the beauty of the sleepwear, giving it a sensuous appeal.

 4. Don

You may remember Priyanka Chopra as Roma from Farhan Akhtar's Don, but the original Roma was none other than Zeenat Aman. She was cast next to Amitabh Bachchan for the original Don, where they shared the screen for the hit song Khaike Paan Banaras. While Bachan danced comfortably in bare feet, Aman gave him competition by matching his steps while strapped in white high heels. She donned white midi pants, a baby-pink shirt and wore a white scarf around her neck for the song.

5. Satyam Shivam Sundaram

Many iconic looks of Zeenat Aman hailed from the film Satyam Shivam Sundaram. At a time when Bollywood shied away from anything too bold, the actress embraced the role of sensuous Rupa. In her Instagram post, Aman gave a shout-out to India's first-ever Academy Award winner, Bhanu Athaya, for crafting outfits that were "comfortable as they were sensual". The movie and Zeenat Aman were highly controversial at the time of its release but are now looked back on fondly.

6. Manoranjan

Another daring yet iconic role from Zeenat Aman's filmography was 1974's Manoranjan. In this film, Aman portrayed the character of Nisha, a sex worker challenging stereotypes in a difficult era; her character's boldness was represented throughout the movie through her fashion sensibilities. Her iconic red dress was a cultural reset at the time.
