The Met Gala 2025 was a star-studded affair that had all of us glued to our screens. This year's event was a big deal, especially across Asia, thanks to an extensive list of Asian-origin stars that showed up for the "Superfine Tailoring"-themed event. A regular at the event, Priyanka Chopra made yet another appearance with her husband, Nick Jonas, by her side. Isha Ambani walked the red carpet once again, this time in custom couture by Anamika Khanna. After making headlines for her mechanical butterfly dress at last year's Met Gala, Mona Patel returned to the Met in custom Thom Browne couture.
But our eyes were on all the newbies at this year's Met Gala as this was a big year for Asian-origin debutants on the red carpet, from Shah Rukh Khan, walking in bespoke Sabyasachi, to Diljit Dosanjh, in his custom Prabal Gurung sherwani, to Kiara Advani flaunting her baby bump in a Gaurav Gupta ensemble. Other notable attendees include the likes of Emmy-winner Anna Sawai, former Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, and Blackpink's Lisa. Scroll below for a complete breakdown of their show-stopping looks:
1. Shah Rukh Khan
Easily one of the most anticipated debuts of all time, Bollywood's Badshah and global sensation, Shah Rukh Khan, walked the Met Gala red carpet for the first time in custom Sabyasachi. Even before he walked the carpet, the Internet was ablaze with anticipation over his presence. He wore a bespoke Sabyasachi creation made of Tasmanian superfine wool and Japanese horn buttons and was decked in custom Sabyasachi jewellery from head-to-toe while he struck his signature SRK pose at the gala.
2. Kamala Harris
The former USA vice president, Kamala Harris, showed up at the Met Gala this year. She wore a custom look from Off-White designed by creative director IB Kamara, made of black and white silk. Harrisis part-Indian and part-Jamaican in her ethnicity and her presence at the Met Gala this year was monumental, as this year's theme honours Black history.
3. Kiara Advani
After Alia Bhatt, Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone, Bollywood actress Kiara Advani became yet another Indian actress to debut on the Met Gala red carpet. The Shershah star, who is on her way to become a mother, attended last night's Met Gala in custom Gaurav Gupta couture, while flaunting her baby bump. Her black and white outfit was accented by hints of gold jewellery and a gold breast plate. Her pink manicure with gold details was a nice touch to the look.
4. Anna Sawai
The New Zealand native of Japanese descent, Anna Sawai, made her way to the Met Gala after a very successful awards season for her performance in Shogun. The Emmy-winning star unknowingly twinned with Zendaya in her finely tailored white-on-white suit, tie and hat by Dior.
5. Diljit Dosanjh
The minute Diljit Dosanjh stepped out, all the eyes were on him. The singer rocked a maharaja-like look in all-white. He carried a sword and was decked in jewellery from the Indian jewellery label Golecha. His custom couture by Prabal Gurung included a pagdi decked with jewels and adorned with a feather at the top. Dosanjh represented his Punjabi legacy like no other, making a bold statement for his regal debut.
6. Manish Malhotra
Ace fashion designer Manish Malhotra has been the heart of Bollywood fashion since the 1990s. His designs have shaped generations of Indian wear, especially the wedding couture in India as the industry has been heavily inspired by his designs in Indian movies. Both, he and his label both made an appearance this year as Indian businesswoman Natasha Poonawalla, who is a regular at the Met, was dressed by Manish Malhotra for this edition. The man himself debuted in a sculptural sherwani cape with a cluster of brooches gracing the Indian dandy look. Manish Malhotra is the second Indian fashion designer to step out on the Met Gala after Sabyasachi Mukherjee.
7. Lisa
After Rose and Jennie's debut, Lisa became the third member of Korean music band BLACKPINK to walk the Met Gala red carpet. After gaining more success with her acting credit in The White Lotus, Lisa made her debut dressed in Louis Vuitton. There's no surprise there, as she serves as the house's brand ambassador. She was dressed in the house's monogrammed tights and a sharply tailored jacket and bodysuit. The pop star also carried a black monogrammed bag from the house and her Louis Vuitton look drove much attention to her.
8. S.Coups
Another K-pop singer to make his way to the Met Gala was SEVENTEEN's S.Coups, who attended with BOSS after being named the luxury fashion house's brand ambassador last month. Joining the likes of Jackson Wang, Stray Kids and BLACKPINK members, S.Coups is now one of the few K-pop stars to have set foot at the biggest fashion event of the year.
