When referencing women known for their astonishing beauty, both inside and out; the first name to come to mind is usually Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie. Among her many accolades, Angelina won an Academy Award for her powerful performance in Girl, Interrupted in the year 2000 and has been recognised for her work in numerous films, including Maleficent, A Mighty Heart, and By the Sea. While her acting prowess is unquestionable, her humanitarian work is what sets her apart from her stellar counterparts in Hollywood. The Maleficent actress served as the UN's goodwill ambassador for 11 years, from 2001 to 2012. In 2012, she was appointed as a Special Envoy, a role she held till 2022.

She has worked towards the settlement of refugees and discussed political matters without caring about the implications she will have to face; which most would shy away from. Angelina has also used her platform to raise awareness about humanitarian aid, women's rights, global peace, sexual violence in conflict zones and the need for international cooperation, working with both UNHRC and Amnesty International.

This may be the reason that her children admire their mother as much as they do. Angelina Jolie is a mother-of-six children, three of whom are adopted.

Jolie adopted her eldest child, Maddox Chivan Jolie-Pitt, who was born on August 5, 2001, in Battambang, Cambodia. He was adopted at seven months when the Lara Croft actress was visiting the country while still married to Billy Bob. After later being in a relationship with Brad Pitt, the actor legally adopted him as well. The couple then adopted their second child, Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt, in July 2005.

In 2006, Jolie and Pitt announced that they were expecting a baby, who was born as Shiloh Jolie Pitt. They later adopted Pax Thien Jolie-Pitt at the age of 3 in the year 2007.  Finally, the stars had their biological twins, Knox Léon Jolie-Pitt and Vivienne Marcheline Jolie Pitt, who were born in 2008.

Post her parents' long-winding divorce, Angelina's daughter Shiloh, who always shared special bond with her mother, dropped Pitt from her family name and officially changed her name to Shi Jolie. She made this announcement in 2024, shortly after turning 18, and asked to be referred to by her new name which honours her mother.

Most of Jolie's children surrounded her during their parents' difficult divorce. Shiloh is one of them, evidently backing her mom publicly and making multiple appearances alongside her. Post the divorce settlement, Pitt made a statement that he is hoping to build bridges with his children. While the children's viewpoint in the matter hasn't been announced yet, Shiloh's name change suggests that she may not wish to be a part of him making amends.

All of Jolie's kids have been involved in her life; Maddox and Pax worked as production assistants on her movie, Maria, where Angelina played the titular character. Shiloh, Zahara, Vivienne, Knox and Maddox accompanied their mom for the 2020 premiere of her Marvel movie, Eternals. Shiloh and Jolie were also spotted at a Måneskin Concert in Rome back in 2022.

The 50-year-old actress excels, not only at being one of the greatest Hollywood has ever had; as a filmmaker, humanitarian, philanthropist and refugee advocate but, above all, a good mom to her kids.
