As the promotional tours for The Odyssey set sail, a new barrage of designer looks has entered the conversation, and the loudest one so far is perhaps Anne Hathaway’s maternity fashion. Hathaway has never done anything by halves, and the ongoing press tour is no exception. Styled throughout by Erin Walsh, the actress has turned a standard promotional circuit into a rolling masterclass in maternity dressing, cycling through more than half a dozen looks in a matter of weeks.
Even before the formal promotional tour, Hathaway had turned heads in New York in a bright red Ashlyn jumpsuit, its dropped peplum waistline framing her newly revealed baby bump. This look created a viral online moment as the internet pointed out how Hathaway appeared to have worn the jumpsuit backwards, creating a moment reminiscent of Regina George’s cut-up tank top in Mean Girls. Right after this iconic moment, Hathaway brought a second red moment: a sheer sleeveless Ashlyn top with wide-leg La Ligne trousers, finished with Bulgari jewellery and cat-eye Krewe sunglasses. These consecutive scarlet moments were soon followed by a complete pivot to a golden Lela Rose Resort gown that screamed old Hollywood. The mustard gown with its shadowy floral print flowed effortlessly and was styled with beaded Gianvito Rossi Sandals and a Bulgari choker. Hathway’s looks signalled that she would not be picking comfort over fashion or vice versa; her looks consistently proved that the two were not mutually exclusive.

While the looks in New York still had fans buzzing with excitement, the promotional tours that had begun in London had brought forth a whole new theme to her outfits, where Grecian-inspired outfits took to the foreground, a fitting choice for a film built on Homer’s epic. This theme worked almost perfectly for Hathaway, as the flowy silhouettes and breathable fabrics could be incorporated perfectly into her outfits without risking comfort. At the photocall, she wore an off-the-shoulder white Blumarine Resort 2027 dress, all cascading ruffles and sheer balloon sleeves, unexpectedly grounded with knee-high brown suede boots and a heart-shaped Chanel bag. The outfit felt Grecian while also providing a quintessential Boho-chic aesthetic, working in tandem with each other to showcase a look that was refreshing yet relevant.
Hathaway seemed to have saved the best for last, for when the day of the premiere finally arrived. She showed up at Leicester Square in a custom strapless Dior Haute Couture gown in pale blue, its pleated skirt forming part of a sculpted, flower-like bodice. Mosaic drop earrings and a rich red lip completed the look. There's something quietly powerful in how Hathaway has approached this chapter. She announced her pregnancy not with a formal statement but a tender Instagram clip set to Barbara Lewis's "Baby, I'm Yours," captioned simply "x Baby, I'm yours x."
Fittingly, Hathaway plays Penelope in the film, the devoted queen of Ithaca who holds her kingdom together while Odysseus makes his ten-year journey home. There's a neat symmetry in an actress known for reinvention taking on a role defined by steadfastness, all while quietly rewriting what a maternity press tour wardrobe can look like. The Odyssey opens in theatres on July 17, but Hathaway's style parade may end up being just as talked-about as the film itself.
