Bridesmaid styling can be a tricky thing as you have to be mindful of not upstaging the bride and her family members while looking 10/10 as a rule when attending a big fat Indian wedding. A dilemma as such was recently experienced by Alia Bhatt who was in Spain for her best friend, Tanya Saha Gupta's, wedding, which she handled swimmingly. Alia Bhatt posted a carousel of twenty images on Instagram, celebrating her friend's wedding in Southern Europe. The images were filled with love, friendship and a lot of fashion inspiration.
Alia Bhatt shared a sweet message for her friends in the post captioned as, "There’s nothing softer, stronger or more sparkly than a group of girls watching their best friend marry the love of her life. The most beautiful wedding, the most beautiful bride — and hearts fuller than we knew possible. Some places just feel like home – ours is wherever we are together."
In the images shared, we saw Alia Bhatt look flawless in the multiple looks she debuted throughout the wedding. The first images saw the bride dressed in a delicate white wedding gown while her bridal party were dressed in black gowns, differing their styles with different silhouettes and fabrics.
Alia's key bridesmaid look was a strapless black gown. The floor-length gown had a strapless top with a sweetheart neckline that had crystals adorning the neckline as the material shimmered under the European sunlight. She paired her look with a sleek hairstyle; her hair was tied into a neat bun with a middle parting. She opted for minimal makeup and wore flower-shaped black and white earrings which paired with her dress effortlessly.
However, from amongst them, if we had to pick one look from her bridesmaid closet which will be trending everywhere as soon as the wedding season hits, it has to be the custom Shantanu Nikhil pheras outfit picked by the Bollywood actress. The white bralette-blazer-skirt ensemble is right out of a baddie's ethnic closet.
The look is a mix of contemporary and tradition, which Bhatt styled with a statement polki necklace and chic Gucci sunglasses. She carried a white clutch to go along with this look; paired to perfection with clean, minimal makeup and a pink lip.
Alia channelled her inner bohemian when she stepped out in a show-stopping custom Arpita Mehta vibrant kalidar lehenga paired with a mustard yellow printed blouse. She accessorised her lehenga with a purple polka-dot bandana and a multicoloured bucket bag adorned with seashells that had a strap matching her blouse.
The multicoloured lehenga had differently coloured panels stitched right next to each other, and made an ethnic statement about Indian craftsmanship with prints like Bandhani and Kalamkari featured on the lehenga. She paired it with a pair of tinted sunglasses and a chunky ring.
Her entire closet from her friend's wedding works as a mood board for this year's wedding guest outfits, which was a mix of modernity, elegance and tradition, all at once.
