From Dakota Johnson to Kaia Gerber, lingerie-inspired style has made its way to the red carpet

A new fashion hitting Hollywood and it's inspired by none other than lingerie. Think sheer fabrics, lace details, bold bodices and more. From Victoria Beckham's beach outings to Rihanna's premiere appearance while pregnant, these dresses are everywhere. While lingerie-inspired ensembles can verge on being risqué, that doesn't seem to be the case for these Hollywood celebrities, who haven't been afraid to wear theirs on the red carpet. This season, HELLO! takes a look at the very many lingerie-inspired looks sported by the finest faces of Hollywood.

Dakota Johnson stepped out for the Kering Foundation’s Caring for Women event in New York wearing a jaw-dropping sheer Gucci look over solid black undergarments and strapped heels.

Days after Victoria's black bikini moment, Zoe Kravitz hopped on the lingerie-as-outerwear-core. She stepped out in Paris in a champagne-coloured slip dress. The strapped Saint Laurent mini resembled a babydoll set worn on the red carpet. Ivory lace trimmed the skirt's hem and neckline as it partly covered its bodice; with a makeshift empire waistline having a lace-trimmed skirt stopping just above her knees. 

Kravitz look was reminiscent of Rihanna's look from earlier this year, where the expecting singer broke the internet in ballgown-ified lingerie, also from Saint Laurent. Instead of champagne, Rihanna's lace-inspired ballgown was black in colour, featuring a similar plunging neckline as Kravitz. 

At the Venice Film Festival 2025, we saw model and actress, Kaia Gerber in a sheer lace gown by Givenchy. The 23-year-old stepped out on the red carpet arm-in-arm with her boyfriend, Lewis Pullman. The black lace gown, which was adorned with sequins and featured a sheer bodice, was paired with pointed pumps, a black clutch and sunglasses.

The festival also saw mother-and-daughter duo Heidi Klum and Leni Klum wearing sheer corset gowns by Italian fashion house, Intimissimi. While Heidi's was a blush pink colour, the supermodel's daughter opted for a black ensemble; both featuring corsets with draped skirts.
