It wouldn't be wrong to call Amal and George Clooney Venice Film Festival royalty at this point. Each year, when the city turns into a gilded spectacle in anticipation of welcoming the participating films at the coveted event, the couple descends upon its canals with grace. Their entry this year was a performance yet again in timeless Hollywood glamour, one outfit after the other. Their arrival at the red carpet this year was sophisticated but with an element of surprise. While George Clooney kept it classic, as always, Amal Clooney chose an ensemble out of her comfort zone.
She chose a vintage Jean-Louis Scherrer minidress, crafted in bright fuchsia taffeta, featuring a strapless sweetheart neckline with a buttoned-down front closure. The '90s dress spells party on the front with the mini hemline and red carpet gala from the back with its voluminous train. An unconventional choice for sure for the philanthropist, but surely a new favourite for fashion enthusiasts around the world. The look was finished off with metallic Aquazzura heels, a gold Jimmy Choo clutch and drop earrings.
After a stylish run in last year's trendiest colour, Amal Clooney made a smooth return to the city in butter yellow to prove the colour's popularity will see no expiry date this season too. The soft butter yellow dress worn by the human rights lawyer was from the French fashion house, Balmain. George made his 'La Dolce Vita' style appearance along with Amal, dressed in a black polo, khakis, and suede loafers.
After many cancelled appearances due to the actor's ongoing sickness, their red carpet appearance was much appreciated. Their outing in Venice is a first since their last appearance after a mini vacation in Italy's Lake Como this June.
