Raise your hand if you watched Sinners in the cinema this weekend. Raise your other hand if you did it partly (mainly?) for Michael B. Jordan. Set in the deep South of 1930s America, the actor enters uncharted territory in the supernatural flick where he plays not one, but two lead roles in the film. Fans can expect a cinematic entremet of gore and otherworldly entities as the fresh entry to theatres this week means double the screen-time of Mr. Jordan in a single ticket. With the weight of taking up twice as much space on the silver screen thrust on his shoulders, the actor also turned his on-screen moments into a showcase reel for how incredibly shredded he has gotten.

Michael B. Jordan has been in (literal) fighting fit shape since he first essayed boxer Adonis Creed in the Creed franchise in 2015. Much has changed since then but his seriousness to create a physique that matches his on-screen persona definitely hasn't. His association with long-time fitness trainer, Corey Calliet, who has trained Michael for his previous lead roles, continued for Sinners as well. Corey has been the force responsible for forging the actor’s physique; be it as a boxer in Creed, a villain in Black Panther and now, dual characters in Sinners

In a 2023 Men’s Health interview, Corey spoke about prioritising intensity when exercising, saying,“I love to do things at a high pace, high intensity no matter what I’m doing. As long as I’m paying attention to form and control, I’m able to get what I want out of it because I want to get that heart rate up. Even when I’m lifting weights. I don’t like to just be hitting the heavy weight and then just sit down and chill.” Through his exercise regimes precisely created for each role, Corey has tailored the actor’s appearance according to his role on the silver screen.

Here’s a look at Michael’s Creed workout and diet plan, as per Australian Men’s Health. Day 1 begins with a one-mile jog as a warm-up and focuses on the back, arms and chest with bench dips and push-ups. Day 2 features curls of every kind to tone the triceps, biceps and lats. Day 3 and Day 4 are more intense as the former includes primarily leg exercises with abs in focus and the latter also includes chest and arm exercises with an abdomen workout.

Michael’s diet to supplement his workout regimen features lean protein, heathy carbohydrates and nutrients to ensure his meals are well-rounded and support his workout nutritionally. Lean protein like chicken or turkey are a regular affair, carbohydrates like oats are eaten as part of most meals and green vegetables are also present.

Being disciplined enough to strictly follow a diet and workout plan may take incredible willpower, but the rewards are visible on the silver screen. Another reward Corey was kind enough to allow Michael when training was one cheat day per week; which usually ended up being a Philly cheesesteak for the actor. “I don’t know if a person has ever eaten as many cheesesteaks as I saw Mike eat,” said Corey.
