Meghan Markle has been fiercely protective of her mental health. Her latest public appearance gave us a peek into how she manages to do that. At the recent TIME100 Summit held in New York, the Duchess of Sussex spoke on-stage with Time CEO Jessica Sibley about raising her children, her relationship with husband Prince Harry and maintaining her mental well-being.
Becoming a mother has helped Meghan improve on herself to be a shining example for her children, 5-year-old son, Prince Archie and 3-year-old daughter, Princess Lillibet. “I'm conscious of not just raising very strong and confident young woman, but also having a son. I think it's just as paramount of importance for young men to be raised with a confidence and sense of self that is going to empower the women around them too,” she said, in a People report.
Filtering out the negativity has become paramount for Meghan to live a healthy family life and safely raise her children. She detailed her process, saying, “It starts with whatever is going on internally. When I am able to not even just tune out whatever that noise is, to really not give it any credence, that has become so much a part of my day-to-day life.”
That’s partly why the Duchess can give her mental health the attention it requires, without being phased by the chaos of the world around her. “Things will get brought to my attention on a need-to-know basis outside of that. That’s part of what I find to bring me peace. It also helps me have very, very strategic focus on the intention of the products, the creative, the producer work that we're doing that I want to bring to the table,” she said.
The highlight of Meghan’s appearance was her on-stage revelation. "A confession for you today that I can very comfortably say is that I'm the happiest I've ever been. To have a partner and a husband who is so supportive and have healthy kids who are so joyful. I never would have imagined at this point I would feel so happy and grateful, and I really do,” concluded Meghan.
