Prince William and Princess Kate of Wales recently celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary on the picturesque Isle of Mull in Scotland. An image posted by the royal couple's social media handle shows the two of them taking in the scenery while embracing each other. The photo was captioned as, "Wonderful to be back on the Isle of Mull. Thank you to everyone for such a warm welcome." Other photos posted on their social profiles show them exploring the island and its community while enjoying each other's company. The pair are celebrating their anniversary at the Islands of Mull, Iona and parts of the Hebrides off the West coast of Scotland.

Last year, the news of Kate Middleton's cancer diagnosis sent shockwaves across the world. Now that she is in remission, the prince and princess have expressed their desire for monthly getaways and their anniversary trip fits right in. The couple, who have known each other since 2001, share a sweet love story that reads like a modern-day fairytale.

On April 29, 2011, Prince William, the then-Duke of Cambridge, married his university sweetheart, Kate Middleton. The royal marriage was viewed live by almost 40-million people worldwide as the pair tied the knot at Westminster Abbey. Theirs was a love story for the history books, when Kate first stepped out of a carriage in a white wedding gown designed by Sarah Buton for Alexander McQueen. She looked ethereal in a lace V-neck gown with long sleeves that had a nine-foot train following it.

When Prince William saw the bride, he couldn't resist complimenting her: "You look lovely! You look beautiful," when she reached the altar. The prince was dressed in a scarlet tunic of the Irish guards, as he was promoted to the colonel of the regiment two months prior to his wedding. His outfit celebrated his military status and was in line with royal tradition.

They met when they were both undergraduates at the University of St. Andrews, where the pair studied as art history majors on the Scottish east coast. It wasn't all a walk in the park from there for the couple, as they were open to public scrutiny and criticism from the beginning of their relationship, after they made it public in 2002.

They did split for a brief while in April 2007, but the couple reconciled in a matter of months, as they couldn't stay apart from each other for too long. William proposed to Kate on October 20, 2010 privately in Kenya and the formal announcement took place a month later, on November 16, 2010, five months before the wedding day.

The then-Duke and Duchess welcomed their first child, Prince George, two years after their marriage, on July 23, 2013. They had two more children in the years ahead; Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, in 2015 and 2018, respectively. In 2022, after the demise of late Queen Elizabeth, William and Kate were promoted to Prince and Princess of Wales from Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
