The late Queen Elizabeth II; one of the world’s most renowned royals; is known for her power, poise and personal style as well. From fresh pastel tones to satin weaves, her wardrobe was emblematic of her status as one of the most powerful, longest-reigning monarchs in British history. To commemorate what would have been the Queen Elizabeth II's centenarian birthday on April 21, 2026, the Royal Collection Trust announced a sweeping exhibition of the late monarch’s iconic wardrobe. The collection, titled Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life in Style, is said to be the largest collection of Her Royal Highness's clothing. The collection will be on view at the King's Gallery in Buckingham Palace starting Spring 2026; and will be on display through fall that year.
More than 200 of the late monarch's clothes and accessories will be on display; many of which are going public for the first time ever. The show is set to display all ten decades of her life. Queen Elizabeth II was born on August 21, 1926 and was coronated as the queen at the age of 25 on June 2, 1953.
She married the late King Philip on November 20, 1947, at the tender age of 21. Both; her coronation and wedding gown will also be on display, which were designed by Sir Norman Hartnell.
Beside her more iconic looks, the exhibition will also feature several of the Queen's off-duty outfits worn at her royal residences, Balmoral Castle and Windsor Castle; including staples like riding jackets, tartan skirts, and silk headscarves.
Her diplomatic fashion will also be part of the showcase. Visitors will be able to see multiple gowns and dresses she wore for diplomatic visits around the world. These pieces will be accompanied by sketches and handwritten letters; detailing what took place behind the scenes to dress one of the world’s most famous monarchs.
