Call it the winds of change or a new wave in celebrity circles, but we're swept by this new-age transparency anyway. In the wake of this trend, who knew one fine day we'll wake up to Kylie Jenner getting real about her beauty enhancements casually on a random comment thread on one of her posts? After years of speculation regarding her drastic physical transformation, the beauty mogul made it clear that she doesn't gatekeep.

The post features the beauty mogul at the beach in a string bikini where a fan commented the details of the work she has gotten done. Contrary to popular beliefs, she took no time to share the details of what and how of her breast augmentation. On June 2, a British Youtuber posted a public callout on TikTok in hopes that Kylie Jenner would find it. She said, “Girl, please can you tell us what it is you asked for when you had your boobs done? To me, you’ve got what I am looking for to have done in terms of a boob job. It’s the most perfect, natural looking boob job ever. They’re still big, but whatever way you had the implants, if they are implants, or if you had fat transfer, to me, it is perfection. That is what I aspire mine to look like.”

If ask and you shall receive could be any truer, Jenner responded to her within 24 hours from her verified account sharing everything—down to the implant size. She wrote, “445 cc, moderate profile, half under the muscle!!! silicone!!! garth fisher!!! hope this helps lol.”

While it may seem in cryptics for some, Dr Kiran Sethi, Founder and Medical Head at Isyaderm, decoded the following for HELLO! India. "Essentially Kylie Jenner is telling you the quantity [of the implant] she did, the shape, the appearance she wanted when you looked at it laterally. And also the fact that it is part under the muscle is designed to inform you that that's why she looks so natural [by placing part of it under the muscle gives a more natural appearance]. It is slightly more risky, though, whenever you put an item under the muscle. The fact that it is silicone also informs you which product."

Transparency is crucial when aspirational values are involved. Moreover, if you're a celebrity like Kylie Jenner, to whom many women look up. Lucky for her fans, Kylie Jenner keeps no secrets. Kylie Jenner credits Garth Fisher, a celebrity favourite, world-renowned plastic surgeon based out of Beverly Hills, for her phenomenal physical transformation. Patients around the globe consider him to be the best cosmetic surgeon in the world, and for good reason. This news comes not too late from Kris Jenner's striking transformation that made the rounds on the internet from the moment she was seen at Lauren Sanchez's bachelorette in Paris.

Although using Kylie Jenner as an inspiration may be a starting point for some, it cannot provide the final result for those seeking physical augmentation. Dr Sonam Yadav, Founder of Delhi-based dermatology clinic, Juverne, weighs in to elaborate that many physiological and psychological factors play an important role in determining the course of the procedure. "Empathetic clear communication and pressure-free, unhurried counselling are essential parts of a good cosmetic consult to help patients make good informed decisions in their own time."

Women's desires and subsequent results vary from person to person. The real challenge comes into play when ensuring enhancements are proportionate and that they harmonise with a patient's natural body type. Dr Yadav adds, "Maintaining a healthy body weight and active lifestyle, reducing sugar spikes and avoiding processed foods go a long way. Collagen preservation through use of sunscreen and retinol, with avoidance of smoking, refined sugars and alcohol also help."

Kylie Jenner has grown up in the public eye. A fashion and beauty empire and two children later, she still lives under the Instagram scanner with fans and critics tracking her every move. For the Kardashian-Jenner 'klan,' this is no unusual feat. Therefore, it wasn't surprising when a newly minted social media star, Kylie Jenner at age 17 in 2015 decided that she needed lip fillers, stemming from insecurities of not looking too "kissable" which she admitted to many years later. Is there a general shift in younger generations to satiate the urge of getting procedures done? Dr Sethi sheds light on this. "Yes I have seen a shift in the way Gen Z and millennials are approaching procedures.  Everyone wants procedures in celebrity culture. They want face lifts earlier, nose jobs done younger; they want different kinds of procedures much younger than later in life. I see 35-year-olds asking for face lifts which are definitely new. Now with Instagram promoting plastic surgery, we do see an interest [in plastic surgery] at much younger ages."

Are we filling a void? Or are we too busy chasing run-of-the-mill trends? No matter what makes you feel confident, maintaining good mental health is at the core before going under the knife. "Psychological screening is taught to all cosmetic doctors and surgeons, to ensure the patient is a good fit," says Dr Yadav when asked if regular mental health screening should be made a regular part of the consultation process.

If at the end of the day, it still lies in question whether breast augmentation is right for you or not, you may be disappointed to know that there really is no right or wrong answer to that. But with profound research on the subject and the correct guidance from an experienced medical practitioner, be assured your breasts will always remain abreast.
