Luxury fashion giant, Louis Vuitton is set to enter the beauty business with La Beauté Louis Vuitton, which is designed in partnership with esteemed makeup artist Pat McGrath. The coveted house will launch 55 lipsticks and 10 lip balms priced at a whopping $160, which is approximately Rs 13,000, and eight eyeshadow palettes priced at $250 or approximately Rs 21,000, each. The line will launch on August 20, 2025 in China, followed by a worldwide digital pre-launch on August 25, 2025. It will then be available from August 29, 2025 online and in select Louis Vuitton stores globally.
The range has all the trappings of luxury makeup, incorporating elements of the fashion house’s Monogram and Damier motifs into packaging created by industrial designer Konstantin Grcic, known for his conceptual furniture pieces. Refills are $69 and $92, approximately Rs 6,000 and 8,000, for lips and eyes, respectively. The maison is already renowned on the fragrance front, but are entering the luxury makeup market considerably later that their contemporaries Chanel, Armani and Gucci. The lipsticks come in two finishes—satin and matte—which run from red to nudes while the eyeshadow palettes offer four shades within each of them.
This isn't the first time LVMH has made shockwaves in the market for their over-the-top pricing. In 2023, Dior introduced a $500 (approximately Rs 43,000) limited-edition lipstick, and Guerlain debuted their opulent $27,000 (approximately Rs 23,00,000) limited-edition scent in the same year. The current Louis Vuitton perfume line itself starts at $350 or Rs 30,000, while the ultra-premium Louis Vuitton Les Extraits Collection range costs $670, which converts to Rs 67,000.
Their debut makeup line will be one of the most expensive premium beauty ranges on the market. With a price that's suited only for the ultra-wealthy, Louis Vuitton is making it clear who they are catering to.
