20 years later, Anamika Khanna will return to London Fashion Week

Ahead of fashion's busiest month, Indian audiences are set for excitement as Indian designer Anamika Khanna will showcase her collection at London Fashion week (LFW) in September 2025. The Indian legacy designer, whose work has featured across red carpets around the world, will return to the event after a hiatus of 20 years, on September 22, 2025. Anamika Khanna opened Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai this March. ​​Khanna first launched her eponymous label back in the 90s, becoming one of the fastest-growing fashion names in the country and gaining recognition for her eclectic designs.

The Spring/Summer ready-to-wear collections by renowned designers and luxury labels showcase their collections in four major fashion capitals of the world—New York, London, Milan, and Paris—respectively, throughout the month of September. LFW will be held from September 18 to September 22 with a change in leadership; the first under British Fashion Council CEO Laura Weir. Her promise of an 18% increase in total shows and their international presence, plus labels like Burberry, Roksanda, Erdem, and Emilia Wickstead, being regulars at the event, only build the anticipation.

1. Isha Ambani at the 2025 Met Gala

For her fifth appearance at the Met Gala, billionaire heiress Isha Ambani opted for a bespoke black, white, and gold creation, featuring a fully-embroidered waistcoat and a jacket with a structured collar that embodied the tailored-for-you spirit of the theme. 

2. Janhvi Kapoor at the 78th Cannes Film Festival 2025

Marking her debut at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival, for the premiere of Homebound, Janhvi Kapoor decked up in a custom Anamika Khanna couture gown in a soft shade of green. The gown featured a gold embroidered bodice, a backless detail, and a silk turquoise-green skirt with a train that flowed like a dream. The intricate embroidery was aari and zari work, showcasing the brilliance of Indian artistry. 

3. Ellie Goulding at the 78th Cannes Film Festival 2025

Another celebrity at Cannes who opted for Khanna's creations was Ellie Goulding. The songstress attended the premiere of Vie Privée in a custom couture brown gown with a strapless body, featuring a silk dupatta around the neck. The pleated dress flowed in a structured manner, adhering to the festival's new dress code. 

4. Shakira performing on her World Tour in 2025 

Columbian singer, Shakira, who is currently on her World Tour, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, kicked off her performance in Rio De Janeiro in a two-piece fiery red set by Khanna. The ensemble, featuring a bralette top and layered skirt, was adorned with intricate threadwork, beads, and Swarovski crystals. This marked the first time that Khanna has designed for a global music star. 

5. Lady Amelia and Lady Eliza Spencer for Summer Serpentine Party 2025

For the summer Serpentine party held annually in London, Princess Diana's twin nieces opted for custom Anamika Khanna in red. While the flowy dresses were almost identical (like the sisters!), the dresses featured subtle differences, showcasing their individual style without hurting the cohesive look they were aiming for. 

6. Colman Domingo for Time Impact dinner 

During the award season as a front-runner, Colman Domingo was seen in custom Anamika Khanna menswear for the Time Impact dinner, which celebrates black leaders that are working towards closing the racial equality gap. He chose a rich blue silk outfit comprising a shirt and matching pants that were hand-stitched.
