It's an elegantly styled Konnichiwa to Dior from Sonam Kapoor in Kyoto

Who doesn’t love sartorial statements that uphold a legacy while also exuding stories? Lucky us—we got yet another reason to be awestruck. Sonam Kapoor, the Neerja actress, has stood as an emblem of sartorial expression long before her cinematic pedigree took centre stage. Upholding craft as a technique rather than a static tradition, the actor has had a litany of iconic fashion moments. Be it championing tradition or contemporary wear, her outfits often pay homage to identity and narrative. Her latest nod to Japan’s cherry blossoms through a floral dress at the Dior Fall 2025 show in Kyoto was no exception.

Held at the Tō-ji temple, the show was curated to reflect a blend of style and cultural authenticity. Designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri, the creative director of the French luxury house, the dress was styled with a black overcoat-cape and the classic Lady Dior bag. The structured silhouette made a strong case for minimalistic elegance—a sculpted bodice juxtaposed with a straight-cut skirt adorned with frills. Her love for prints and patterns is no covert affair, and Rhea Kapoor—the stylist behind the look and her sister—continues to translate that affinity into fashionable reality, ensemble after ensemble.

Appointed as the global brand ambassador for Dior on October 23, 2024, Sonam Kapoor's first appearance as the official ambassador was at the Dior Spring/Summer 2025 showcase at Paris Fashion Week. Championing a black ensemble from the Cruise 2025 collection of the luxury maison, the outing was yet another reminder of her mastery over minimal yet elevated statements.

Subliminally affirming her position once again at the Kyoto show on April 15, Sonam kickstarted the sartorial display a day earlier in a tailored two-piece skirt and double-breasted blazer set, featuring a double-breasted blazer and a matching skirt, styled with sakura-inspired makeup. A maestro of monochromatic looks, her ensembles never fail to recite chronicles, be it of herself, the brands she endorses or the causes she supports." Japan has always held a special place in my heart. I have fond memories of visiting Kyoto with my husband a few times after our wedding and we've met some amazing and warm people. This year, returning as the Dior ambassador makes this trip all the more special,” explained the actor. 

Accessorising the look with statement earrings, multiple rings, and an eclectic braid, the Kapoor duo reminded us yet again—they know how to deliver.  Looking like a souvenir of Japan herself, Sonam rightfully earned our eyes, nods and applause.
