The legendary French department store, Galeries Lafayette, has landed in Mumbai; one of the most anticipated luxury retail arrivals in India’s fashion history. With its flagship now standing tall at Fort, the Mumbai store naturally brings with it Parisian panache, and also a new definition for experiential shopping, where art, music, and gastronomy intertwine with couture.

With its Mumbai store, Galeries Lafayette has reimagined what a department store can be; a space where shopping transforms into storytelling.

A recent celebratory night for Galeries Lafayette Mumbai unfolded like a symphony. As the city’s elite gathered under the stars at Turner Terrace, the evening shimmered with fine dining, flowing champagne, and an air of Parisian grandeur. Kallie Purie and Aroon Purie, Vice Chairperson and Editor-in-Chief of the India Today Group, were a part of the sparkling evening.

The gala’s crescendo came in the form of a spellbinding live performance by a global ensemble of virtuosos: Victor Espinola on the harp, Purbayan Chatterjee on the sitar, Sayaka Katsuki on the violin, Selva Ganesh on the kanjira, and Shikhar Naad on the drums, which weaved melodies of the East and West in perfect harmony. It wasn’t merely an inauguration; it was an overture, signalling the beginning of a new chapter in Mumbai’s cultural and luxury landscape.

The glittering soirée drew Mumbai’s crème de la crème; from Tamannaah Bhatia and Ananya Birla to Aditi Rao Hydari and Anil Kapoor. Among the elegantly dressed crowd were familiar faces from India’s luxury, fashion, and entertainment circles, all gathered to toast the arrival of Galeries Lafayette in the city with champagne, conversation, and a shared love for style and culture.
