The Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, debuted two stunning looks in less than 24 hours that spoke to the royals fashion prowess, as she walks in the footsteps of her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana. For the official French state visit, Kate opted for a head-to-toe Dior look in a romantic pale pink colour.
The Princess of Wales arrived at the RAF Northolt alongside her husband, Prince William, King Charles III, and Queen Camilla to welcome the French president, Emmanuel Macron, and his wife, Brigitte, to the United Kingdom. To make a fitting statement for Frances's visit, Kate wore the French fashion gem Dior publicly for the first time.
She made a statement in a 30 Montaigne Rose Des Vents Bar Jacket from the 2024 collection, which was a reimagination by Maria Grazia Chiuri originally created by Christian Dior himself in 1947. The top of her regal outfit consisted of a wool and silk blazer that she paired with a tutu-like tulle skirt. She opted for a mix of British designers alongside Dior by carrying a clutch from Mulberry, a British luxury fashion house and a straw hat with a baby-pink ribbon by Jess Collett, a British milliner, sat over her wavy hair.
For footwear, the princess settled on a chic pair of suede pumps, whereas her jewellery had written royal ancestry all over it. Princess Kate chose a pair of pearl earrings to pair with her elegant look that originally belonged to Princess Diana, a Dior muse who has a bag named after her (Lady Dior), and a three-strand pearl necklace from Queen Elizabeth II’s collection. She additionally wore her sapphire-and-diamond engagement ring from William, which also belonged to the late Diana.
Prince William accompanied her in a classic blue suit, white shirt, and navy tie with a red and white dot print.
Shortly after, for the official welcome at the Palace, Princess Kate slipped into a red dress by Givenchy, as a lovers-knot tiara graced the crown of her head. Kate's gown for the evening, a sweeping floor-length creation with a flowing cape silhouette belted at the waist that was designed by Sarah Burton for Givenchy, is a design of a British woman for yet another iconic French fashion house. Burton also designed Princess' wedding dress.
The Princess of Wales made all heads turn (and bow) in the dark red gown as she walked into the state banquet at Windsor Castle honouring the French president. The princess paired her gown with an evening clutch by Givenchy embroidered with a lily of the valley motif, black pointed-toe pumps, and her royal sash.
The diamond and pearl Lover's Knot tiara worn by Kate was originally created for Queen Mary in 1914 by the House of Garrard from jewels already owned by her family, and it was passed down to Kate through Queen Elizabeth II and then Diana. Other notable jewellery worn by her was her diamond chandelier earrings and a diamond bracelet. Next to her, Prince William looked dapper in a navy tuxedo, white bow tie, and his military honours for the banquet.
Princess Kate proved that she is one of those British royals who can pull off French fashion like no other.
