The 2026 BAFTA awards have proved to be the stomping grounds; not just for the British entertainment industry's most popular faces but also for its monarchy. Along with homegrown stars like Paul Mescal and Wunmi Mosaku as well as international faces like Emma Stone and Timothée Chalamet, the star-studded function got a royal touch as none other than the Prince and Princess of Wales made the event sparkle just a little more. Princess Kate marked her return to the BAFTA red carpet; her first at the awards function since 2023. It comes shortly after her first red carpet appearance in two years, where the couple attended the 2025 Royal Variety Performance in November last year.

For her chic homecoming, Kate did what she does best: she made a designer ensemble from her closet do double duty. The princess chose a dual-toned Gucci gown, which wove shades of aubergine and raspberry tulle together. The ruched wide-shouldered neckline was cinched at the waist with a dark pop of burgundy and led to a pleated length in two-tonal panels. She first wore the Gucci number in 2019 for a gala dinner. Seven years later, she continues her streak of showing her style chops by very fashionably re-wearing the couture in her closet.

Complementing the romantic palette of the gown, Kate's hair was worn in voluminous waves, cascading over her shoulders for a polished yet natural finish. Her makeup was understated and luminous, with softly defined eyes, rose-toned blush, and a neutral lip. Her jewellery for the night was what shone, quite literally. She paired her outfit with a diamond bracelet and the dangling Greville Chandelier Earrings which come with a backstory. Created by Cartier, the earrings were bequeathed by Dame Margaret Greville to Queen Elizabeth in 1942, who then wore them throughout her reign. Kate has accessorised with the historic earrings before; most recently at the 2025 Royal Variety event.
Prince William also attended the red carpet event, complementing his princess rather stylishly. He wore a tuxedo in burgundy velvet which matched her colour palette beautifully, allowing her to shine as the belle of the ball.
