How Princess Gauravi Kumari is emerging as a force of fashion

When Jimmy Choo announced their new brand ambassador in June 2024, the whole world got talking about this young Indian princess. With an Instagram following of 316K and growing, Princess Gauravi Kumar is establishing herself as fashion royalty as well.

Princess Gauravi Kumar comes from a long line of lineage. She is the daughter of Princess Diya Kumari, princess of Jaipur, and the deputy chief minister of Rajasthan. Her great-grandfather Man Singh II was the last ruling Maharaja of the princely state of Jaipur during the British Raj. Her brother, His Highness Sawai Padmanabh Singh, Maharaja of Jaipur is also among the most prominent faces of Indian royalty. 

As a member of the royal family of Jaipur, Princess Gauravi is no stranger to luxury fashion. As a young princess though, she is changing the narrative for the modern Indian woman with her style and she was in the works long before her big Jimmy Choo break. 

Princess Gauravi Kumari became the face of famous international brands like Dior and Ralph Lauren, both eponymous houses with luxury.

Beyond her innate flair for style, the princess is a connoisseur of the fashion world in its truest sense. The PDKF store is her brainchild born out of her love for fashion and her commitment to sustainability. Under the banner of the Princess Diya Kumari Foundation (PDKF), a key programme is promoting traditional crafts by woman artisans from rural Rajasthan. The collection derives inspiration from contemporary designs, all while upholding the ethos of Rajasthan's traditional motifs and crafts. 

Her contributions to fashion are meaningful to the environment as well. She showcased that in December 2023, in order to raise money for the conservation of nature and elephants, the princess collaborated with designer Anita Dongre to present a fashion show called "Rewild 23" at the City Palace. The Nature Conservation Foundation received a donation of all profits.

Last year she was among the high-profile guests hosted at the Ambani residence in Mumbai for the Bulgari dinner with brand ambassador Priyanka Chopra and Aditi Rao Hydari in attendance. The princess loves her jewels clearly and has been a friend of the jewellery giant, Cartier, as well, with whom she has travelled the world to explore more on the house's history and legacy.

The princess's personal fashion choices speak for themselves. Her style is an amalgamation of timeless pieces fused with sophistication and it is evident in everything from red carpet soirees to casual appearances. 

After cracking several deals with fashion giants and being the face of sustainability, it's safe to say that Princess Gauravi Kumar is set to leave her mark on the fashion world.
