Met Gala 2025: Rihanna announces her third pregnancy with partner A$AP Rocky on the red carpet

A quote from The Princess Diaries goes something like, "A queen is never late; everyone else is simply early"; which was fitting for Rihanna at the Met Gala 2025. While her partner A$AP Rocky; a co-chair of the prestigious event, was present from early in the evening, the pop star turned up fashionably late when the red carpet section of the night was winding up. However, even time will stand still when Rihanna arrives; with an announcement as big as hers, especially.

Rihanna's Met Gala 2025 look did turn heads, but more importantly, it was the personal milestone that she announced which grabbed attention. On the momentous night for A$AP, she took the opportunity to tell the world that she was pregnant for the third time with their child. The entrepreneur-slash-singer donned a Marc Jacobs ensemble featuring a black cropped jacket, grey bustier that enveloped her growing bump and a flowing skirt fashioned like an opened jacket, with a slit down the front. Her accessories included an oversized black hat, white collar with a dotted neckerchief, cravat pinned on her blazer and dual-toned brogues on her feet. 

Hours before the big reveal of her third pregnancy, the star was snapped on the streets of New York in the rain under an umbrella. The appearance led to speculation about her baby on the way, which she confirmed later that night. 

Rihanna has always picked a grand pop culture moment to announce her past pregnancies; which is almost the digital equivalent of shouting from the roof tops. She revealed her first pregnancy to the world in January 2022 before she gave birth to her son RZA with a streetwear-themed photoshoot that bared her bump. It was shot against the backdrop of the streets of New York's Harlem neighbourhood, which A$AP calls his childhood home. 

Her grandest pregnancy reveal however, was before she gave birth to her second son, Riot Rose, in February 2023. The singer performed at the Superbowl Half Time Show that year in a red full-length jumpsuit and revealed her new motherhood status during the energetic dance routine.
