HELLO! India: What was the starting point or emotion behind this collection?

Maheka Mirpuri: It began with a pulse of movement, of evolution, of a woman who refuses to be still. The Maharani has always symbolised strength for me, but this time, I wanted to reimagine her beyond grandeur, into her everyday rhythm. Into her lived-in power. She is not defined by a single moment…she flows through many. And in that fluidity, there is freedom. That’s where this collection was born.

HELLO! India: How do you balance wearability with artistic expression?

Maheka Mirpuri: For me, they are one and the same. True design is when art becomes instinctive to wear. I work deeply with proportion, fabric behaviour, and the placement of detail, so every piece feels effortless, almost second skin. Even with embellishments and handwork, the garment must never overpower the woman. It must move with her, not against her. That’s the real luxury, ease with impact.

HELLO! India: Do you design for a specific muse or personality?

Maheka Mirpuri: Not one face, but always one energy. She is self-assured, intuitive, and unapologetically present. She doesn’t seek attention, she commands it. The Modern Maharani today is as powerful in motion as she is in stillness. And it is this duality, this quiet confidence, that becomes my constant muse.

HELLO! India: At what point did you start thinking like a businessperson rather than just a creative?

Maheka Mirpuri: It’s not a switch, it’s an evolution. You begin with instinct and emotion, but as your vision grows, so must your understanding of structure, scale, and sustainability. Today, I don’t see creativity and business as separate, they coexist. One fuels the other. Because a vision is only as powerful as its ability to endure and expand.

HELLO! India: What’s one detail in this collection that most people might miss but you’re especially proud of?

Maheka Mirpuri: The soul lies in the subtlety. From the precision of seam placements to the layering of fabrics that create lightness while holding form, every detail is intentional. And especially the hand-painted elements… they’re not static. They’re designed to move with the body, almost like the artwork is alive. You may not notice it instantly, but you feel it. And that feeling… is everything.
