Each year promises an eclectic mix of trends. The beauty space is no stranger to this area of expertise. With this year's innovative era of beauty trends, 2025 is off to a great start. From high-tech beauty tools to nature-inspired aesthetics, individuality is redefining the beauty norms. Whether you're a skincare minimalist or maximalist, these upcoming trends will shape the way we will see beauty experiments in the months ahead.

BEAUTY FORECAST TO TRACK IN 2025

1. Injectible Moisturisers

Hyaluronic acid (HA) has been a beauty buzzword for several years and may be found in serums, supplements, makeup and dermal fillers. It is a naturally occurring sugar in humans, which works like a sponge to hold water and plump up skin. Injectable gels of concentrated hyaluronic acid combine low and high molecular weight particles, draw water into the deeper skin layers and therefore, work like long-lasting moisturisers, the results of which can last months, making the skin appear glowing and feel soft and hydrated. Some evidence shows these gels also stimulate new collagen and elastin production in the skin, thus making it firmer, younger and more supple over time.

2. Growth Factors

Doctors can now utilise the body’s healing abilities to repair itself to a healthier younger state. This booming science is called regenerative medicine and it champions the use of growth factors: signaling molecules that naturally exist in the body. Treatments like PRP (Platelet-rich Plasma), PRF (Platelet-rich Fibrin) and GFC (Growth Factor Concentrate) filter the growth factors present in our body and use them to stimulate better growth and healing of target tissues (skin, hair, joints and more). Skincare products often use lab-grown growth factors that mimic natural growth factors to repair skin and reduce wrinkles.

3. Polynucleotides

Ultra-purified fragments of DNA taken from salmon have been shown to trigger the production of new collagen and elastin when injected into the skin. Dubbed PN (polynucleotides) or PDRN (poly deoxyribonucleotides), these purified extracts help achieve smooth glassy skin and have been growing in popularity. Often combined with collagen-stimulating facials such as microneedling, and injectable moisturisers, these treatments can have red carpet-worthy skin results which last for several months.

4. Exosomes

Think of exosomes as bubbles carrying packets of information in the body, working like postmen between cells. When exosomes release these packets, the receiving cells will behave in specific predictable ways. This power of exosomes has been used in aesthetics to stimulate hair growth, and skin rejuvenation, reduce inflammation and trigger wrinkle repair. Exosomes for beauty treatments have been purified and extracted from plants ranging as widely as rose and aloe. Exosomes work like stem cell extracts but are safer as they are not live products, and are often combined with microneedling, radiofrequency and other treatments for bouncier skin; and thicker hair.

5. New Age Actives And Formulations

Derivatives of fern and crystal tomato in oral supplements can prevent sun damage on a holiday; patches of glutathione and vitamin C stuck on the kin can help recover faster from the flu or lighten stubborn pigmentation. Extracts from lotus, fermented rice and algae can plump skin, peptides reduce eye bags, while rosehip can be a natural retinol alternative to smooth out early wrinkles. The advancement of biotechnology and AI has helped skincare evolve faster, delivering superior results at better pricing. Use this scientific advantage smartly by getting a doctor to custom design a skincare routine for you, instead of trial and error with the newest product marketed to you.

6. Sunscreens Revisited

Sun protection has evolved and continues to evolve rapidly. There are stick formulations that dry clear to top-up over makeup, transparent films that stick to the face for beach holidays, sprays that hydrate and spread well without a white cast and specialised formulations containing corrective actives (glutathione, vitamin C, Centella and more) to treat the skin while protecting it. Completely organic or combination products, pregnancy-safe and baby-friendly products, there are a plethora of excellent sunscreens available and just no excuse for allowing sun damage to age you faster.

7. Oral Collagen

Collagen supplements have made their way into most beauty-conscious medicine cabinets over the last few years and with good reason. Within a few weeks of daily oral consumption of hydrolysed collagen fragments, individuals can see plumper, bouncier and more hydrated skin, stronger nails and silkier hair. While the best sources of collagen are marine, the building blocks can be taken separately from vegan or vegetarian sources.
