If 2025 had a bingo card, we’d never expect one of its slots to be dedicated to Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson’s romantic pairing. Celebrity relationships; widely shipped by fans and closely monitored by the paparazzi, have led audiences to become disillusioned with love in the entertainment world. Write that down to short-lived marriages and publicity-driven relationships to promote a shared interest. Liam and Pamela’s unlikely coupling has managed to get the collective internet to root for them; maybe enough to even restore their faith in love.

Both stars in their respective fields, the Canadian actress is known across the world, even today, as Baywatch’s C.J. Parker, after which she leaned into her bombshell persona for her on-screen roles. The Academy Award-nominated actor achieved cult status for his CIA operative role in the Taken franchise, which came with the iconic line—“I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you.”

What Liam wasn’t looking for however, was love and yet, it found him. Now making waves for his present relationship with Pamela, the actor was first known as a devoted husband to Natasha Richardson, whom he married in 1993 and had two sons, Daniel and Michael, with. Their love story was tragically cut short in 2009 when Natasha, then aged 45, died from complications of a skiing accident.

Since then, the Irish actor had fervently sworn off the idea of love and often spoke affectionately of his late wife. In a 2016 Facebook post, he shared, “They say the hardest thing in the world is losing someone you love. Someone you grew old with and watched grow everyday. Someone who showed you how to love. It’s the worst thing to ever happen to anyone. My wife died unexpectedly. She brought me so much joy. She was my everything. Those 16 years of being her husband taught me how to love unconditionally.”

Pamela hadn't had the best luck with matters of the heart. The actress has had five marriages and one annulment; most of them controversial and many of them short-lived, with her first lasting all of 96 hours. Since her last divorce in 2022, Pamela has introspected her past relationships and opened up about self-love. In a 2023 interview to People, she said, “I'm sure it would be lovely if someone else was in my life and wanted the same thing but I've just never met them.”

And the rest was history on the sets of The Naked Gun in 2024, which they met on the sets of and starred in together as a crime-fighting couple in the comedy cop caper. Last month, Liam and Pamela fanned the fires of a rumoured romance when she gave him a peck on the cheek in London and they struck a Titanic-style pose in Berlin when promoting the movie across the world. The couple has officially announced that they are “enjoying each other’s company” but the internet cannot help but read between the lines.

It’s tough to find a critic for this budding celebrity romance; which is rare when keyboard warriors, who abound, are quick to comment. Even their respective families; Liam’s former sister-in-law, his son and Pamela’s sons, seem to be supportive of the new chapter in their lives. In the cynical age of celebrity relationships, it’s heartening to bear witness to one that’s a far throw from them all. Liam and Pamela, aged 73 and 58 respectively, are proving to audiences that heartbreak does eventually heal, finding love once again is possible, age-appropriate relationships can exist in the celebrity sphere and most importantly, in the world of love, age is nothing but a number.
