The entire fashion journalism workforce of the early 2000s decided to pursue a career in that industry unanimously on the basis of one movie; The Devil Wears Prada. The iconic movie made many fall in love with the cut-throat, fast-paced world of fashion as Andrea Sachs (Anne Hathaway) struggled to tread the path as the assistant of Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep), the editor-in-chief of Runway, a fictional fashion magazine. Other notable characters of the movie were Emily Blunt's Emily, who was the senior personal assistant to Priestly, and Stanley Tucci's Nigel, who played Runway's art director.

The movie showed the inner workings of a fashion magazine and many were transfixed with the idea of fashion journalism, even after the pretty cut-throat depiction of the world in the film. So when a sequel, starring Meryl Streep, Stanley Tucci, Anne Hathaway, and Emily Blunt returning, was announced, many 20, 30 and 40-somethings, were overjoyed. The news was only made sweeter when the movie revealed new cast members joining the existing crew. The new cast members confirmed so far include Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak, Pauline Chalamet, and Simone Ashley.

Ashley wooed the world with her performance as Kate Sharma in season 2 of Netflix's Bridgerton, where she plays the love interest to Johnathan Bailey's Anthony Bridgerton. Since then, she has been seen in numerous projects, the latest one being Brad Pitt's F1 movie, where a cut to her role had her fans enraged. Thankfully, the news of her joining the cast of The Devil Wears Prada sequel has everyone excited. The 30-year-old Indian-origin British actress can pull off a look like nobody's business and we have receipts.

Scroll to see iconic looks from Simone Ashley that prove why her being a part of The Devil Wears Prada sequel was meant to be.

1. Rome

Simone Ashley channelled Indian bohemian energy while on her Roman vacation. She was a vision in white as she traipsed through the ancient streets of Roma.

2. Movie Premieres

Simone Ashley stunned in Balmain's metallic gold peplum gown for F1: The Movie premiere in London. Fresh off the runway, Ashely's choice for the day was a dress from Balmain’s Fall/Winter 2025 collection that featured a halter neckline, sculpted bodice, and sharply-flared peplum. She paired her look with strap metallic sandals, a matching watch, diamond hoops and a ring.

3. Cannes

Ashley attended the coveted Cannes Film Festival twice; in 2024 and 2025. Her latest appearance at the festival saw her in a breath-taking white Vivienne Westwood creation. The white ball gown; from the brand's Spring/Summer 2025 collection, featured the designer's signature corseted top, along with two wing-like adornments that gave the gown an ethereal elegance. It had a ballgown-style skirt that rested just above her ankles.

For her first appearance at Cannes in 2024, Ashley wore an all-black look, a stark contrast to her second one. The black off-the-shoulder dress by Stella McCartney featured a sweeping train. It had a tight bodice with a thigh-skimming skirt that accentuated her figure and the daring V-shaped neckline added a bold touch to her ensemble.

4. The Met

Her appearances at fashion's biggest night make a fitting addition to the list. The Bridgerton star wore a gold metallic bustier with a body-skimming maxi skirt for her debut look at the Met Gala in 2022.

She; once again, turned heads when she reappeared at the Met in 2024, channelling Cher on the red carpet in atelier Prabal Gurung.

5. City Style Files

Ashley turned the sidewalk into a runway when she stepped out in New York City for a press tour wearing a Brandon Maxwell dress, acing New York fashionista energy to perfection.

Another one of her memorable looks from NYC is when she pulled off a vintage Alexander McQueen look during the promotions of Picture This.

6. The one where she wore Prada

How could we miss this one? A regular at Prada fashion shows, Ashley attended The Fashion Awards 2024 in a pale pink strapless custom Prada gown that featuring a bow detail and a dramatic train, all crafted with an eye-catching jacquard cloqué material.

She also picked a Prada dress during the season 3 world premiere of Bridgerton in New York. This time, it was a silver sequin piece on a sheer tulle base, embellished with mirrors and crystals. With the added shine of South Asian representation, her ability to pull off any and all styles (and look stunning throughout) is proof enough that she is ready to inspire another generation to step into the world of fashion.
