When I was 24, I took a trip to London with my younger brother (22), and travelling for me has never been the same ever since. That 15-day trip has become one of my most cherished memories, where we both bonded with each other. When at home, we constantly find tiny little excuses to pick fights and drive our poor mom crazy, but when we travelled together, we quickly became each other's best friends (though the squabbling and fighting continued).

Out of all the trips and vacations I have taken, a lush trip to Europe with my parents by my side, soaked in the history and architecture of Rajasthan alongside my girlfriends, and travelling the fast lanes of Dubai with a date, and bungee jumping with my cousins in South Africa–nothing came close to travelling with my brother. From bullying each other relentlessly to shopping in street markets to trying everything we could eat at Borough market, my 15-day trip with my sibling left me with the best lesson – that my brother will always be my best travel buddy.

When it comes to travelling, the most important part of your journey isn't the tickets, the amount of luggage you carry, accommodations, food or even your destination; it is who you travel with, as your company is the deciding partner on how your travel diaries are going to turn out to be. Pick bad company and even Paris will feel like Panvel, but when you travel with those you love and truly enjoy yourself with, even the most boring location can become a fun adventure.

Bollywood celebrity sibling duos are often among those who love to travel together. Not so long back, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan were seen enjoying the cool weather of Switzerland. Ananya Panday took her little sister Rysa as her plus one for the Chanel Cruise show in Lake Como, Ishan Khatter recently shared snippets of his bike trip with Shahid across Europe, and Janhvi Kapoor recently shared having a delightful picnic with her little sister Khushi Kapoor, showing that travelling with your sibling is the best.

When looking back at all the trips you had with your family, we are ready to bet that some of the best memories are of your sibling rivalry sharing the same room with you in the hotel always ended up with you two fighting over who gets to use the bathroom first, and driving around in the car was characterised by backseat squabbles, while scenic locations were marred with who gets to get their pictures taken first.

As we grow up, the sibling rivalry and squabbling stay the same, but you truly start enjoying your time together, especially when on vacation. Travelling together is sure to strengthen the one-of-a-kind bond you share with your siblings. In addition to that, travelling along with your sibling is beneficial for many more reasons.  Your parents will mostly have their sanity intact when travelling with your brother or sister, as they don't need to worry about, or at least worry less. Sort of?

Travelling with them can definitely help you with the number of bags you will be lugging around, provided you both pack together. You never have to worry about who is going to pick up the bills, either, as in most cases, it gets deducted from the same boot. If you are the younger sibling, then you never have to worry about shelling out even a rupee when eating out and shopping for all kinds of fancy perfumes. Sorry, elder siblings!

While these were the more practical aspects of it all, the best part about travelling with your siblings is you never have to pretend to be anyone but your authentic self, as you are going to completely comfortable around them, unlike when travelling with friends, a big family or new partners, which will have you on your best behaviour at all times. You can let your guards down and be who you are without judgment. You and your sibling can be complete opposites of each other and still get along; you are going to love each other in spite of your differences, I hope.

So when are you planning that much-awaited sibling trip next?
