It's been a busy time for the British royal family. This week, Remembrance services to honour the departed who've lost their lives in war, commenced which brought together King Charles, Queen Camila, Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton and Prince of Wales, William amongst others. Earlier in the week, Prince William was across the Atlantic ocean for a visit to Brazil. The purpose of his trip was rooted in environmental conservation with his attendance for the Earthshot Prize, United for Wildlife Global Summit and COP30 World Leader’s Summit. But that didn't mean the British monarch didn't get a chance to experience Brazilian culture first-hand.

During his visit to Rio de Janeiro, Prince William gave the world a glimpse of his tourist-y side when he posed for a photo under the famous arms of Christ the Redeemer. The iconic 30-metre-tall statue that sits atop the Corcovado mountains found a spot in his photo diary of his visit to the South American city. It turns out that the picture wasn't any ordinary vacation photo for the royal.

In 1991, his mother, the late Princess Diana posed under the Art Deco statue when she visited Brazil with the now-King Charles III that April. 34 years later, her eldest son posed for a picture in the very same spot that she stood in. Not only did their connection across continents delight the audience, his spokesperson said that the prince was also "incredibly struck by the number of people who fondly remember his mother's visit to this beautiful city." Decades may pass but the global love that the People's Princess has accrued never fades.

Besides his royal duties during the five-day visit to Brazil, Prince William also visited the Guapimirim mangroves, played a game of beach volleyball on the popular Copacabana Beach, received the keys to the city at Sugarloaf Mountain and of course, got a front row seats in Maracanã Stadium to watch a game in the land of football.
