The late Princess Diana may be gone but is never forgotten. Case in point: Decades after her passing, she continues to be an unimitable style icon. While her daughters-in-laws, Duchesses Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton, often pay tribute to her through their personal style at public appearances; sometimes with a revered pair of earrings or couture from the archives. Today, it seems that the chic impact of the people's princess has now made its way across the globe. Indian fashionista Sonam Kapoor announced her second pregnancy on social media in a manner that befits the stylish persona she is. Not just that—her pregnancy outfit ensemble went one step ahead of just being sophisticated and also lauded one of modern history's greatest royal tastemakers.

In her latest post on Instagram, Sonam Kapoor is captured wearing a long-sleeve, fuchsia pink skirt suit designed by Escada's Margaretha Ley in 1988. It featured dark buttons running down its front, a silk pocket square pinned to her top left corner and a mid-length skirt with a miniature slit. The celebrity left the front closure partially unbuttoned for dramatic effect: to caress her impending baby bump and delicately announce the new addition to her family. Completing Sonam's outfit was black sheer stockings with pointed pumps, chunky Phoebe Philo sunglasses and a quilted black purse on her arm. With a base in London's Notting Hill, it was only natural for the mother-of-one with her husband Anand Ahuja, to pay homage to Britain's most famous princess.

As per The Princess Diana Museum, the pink wool suit in question was worn by her on multiple public occasions from 1988 until 1990. She too paired the designer ensemble with black accessories but has been captured taking the monochrome route as well with a pink purse. It went to be donated to a local charity store to raise funds for her supported charities, where it was then preserved by the store owner.

In the early 1990s, Escada was favoured greatly by the princess for various engagements. Some of Diana's dearest creations by the designer label include a star-embroidered pair of white jeans she wore to watch Prince Charles play polo, a pinstriped grey cashmere suit she donned six times in public and the notable pink skirt suit, which has now shaped a pivotal moment in Sonam Kapoor's journey through motherhood.
