Cristiano Ronaldo is a name synonymous with football across the world, so naturally his relationship status too, has become a topic of interest among his fans. The star forward of Saudi Arabia's Al-Nassr F.C., has been in a partnership with Georgina Rodriguez, for eight years. After dodging the question in the public eye of when he'd get down on one knee, Ronaldo has finally proposed to Rodriguez; which she announced through a social media post. She posted a picture of a large oval-shaped diamond ring, captioned, "Yes, I do. In this and in all my lives," translated from her native Spanish language.
Cristiano and Georgina have kept fans guessing for years now, when the footballer would pop the question and they'd tie the knot. In her Netflix show, I Am Georgina, the footballer bared his heart to viewers and assured them that marriage was on the cards for the famous couple. He shared, "I’m 1000% sure that we will get married one day. I always tell her 'when we get that click', like everything with our life and she knows what I'm talking about. It could be in a year, it could be in six months or it could be in a month". The couple share four children between them; twins, Eva and Mateo, and daughters, Alana and Bella while also raising Cristiano Jr., his oldest son from an undisclosed partner. Their youngest, Bella was born in 2022 with a twin brother, who was a stillborn.
After ending his five-year relationship with supermodel Irina Shayk, Ronaldo met Rodriguez while she was working as a sales assistant at a Gucci store in Madrid in 2016. They began dating shortly after, with Rodriguez describing the early days of their relationship as a "very special start" in her Netflix series. The new couple made their first official appearance on 9 January, 2017 for the Best FIFA Football Awards in Zurich, alongside Ronaldo’s oldest son, Cristiano Jr.
In May 2017, the two made their relationship Instagram official when the football star posted a picture of the two of them cuddling on a couch, captioning the post with a simple red heart. In July that year, the two announced that they were expecting their first child together, which was a month after Ronaldo announced the birth of his twins via surrogacy. Georgina debuted her baby bump in August on the cover of ¡HOLA!. Rodriguez and Ronaldo welcomed their daughter, Alana Martina on November 12, 2017.
In August of 2018, after announcing his transfer to Italy's Juventus F.C., Ronaldo posted a photo of his entire family wearing matching Juventus jerseys. "La famiglia bianconera!" Ronaldo wrote in Italian, which translates to "The black-and-white family", a nod to his new team's colours. Ronaldo transferred to Juventus after a nine-year-long career with Real Madrid.
When Rodriguez was spotted wearing a diamond ring in November 2018, rumours of an engagement flew but were later squashed when neither Ronaldo nor Rodriguez made a comment on the same.
On June 12, 2019 Georgina posted a picture of them with all four of their children on what appeared to be a private plane. "Buen día con amor!" Rodriguez captioned the image, which translates to "Good day with love!"
Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, Ronaldo posted a family photo and shared a message of hope for the upcoming year. "2020 was not an easy year, there's no doubt about it," he captioned the snap. "No one can be indifferent to the pain and suffering that COVID-19 brought upon the world. But now it's time to bounce back and show that, together, we can make a difference. Because no matter how hard the fall is, what really defines us is the way we get back on our feet and how fast we are ready to face new obstacles."
In October 2021, Ronaldo and Rodriguez announced that they were expecting twins. The footballer shared the news by posting a selfie of the couple holding a sonogram. In November, the FIFA star and his girlfriend revealed that they were expecting a baby boy and girl via a video posted on Instagram. In the video, their kids Eva, Mateo, Alana and Cristiano Jr, popped balloons to reveal pink and blue confetti.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez detailed the early days of their relationship in I Am Georgina, a Netflix docu-series. On April 18, 2022, the couple announced the loss of their baby boy; Bella's twin, in a heartbreaking Instagram post. "It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away. It is the greatest pain that any parents can feel," the couple wrote. "Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness."
Shortly after the announcement, Ronaldo and Rodriguez shared a family photo with their newborn daughter on April 21, 2022. "Home sweet home. Gio and our baby girl are finally together with us," shared Ronaldo. "We want to thank everyone for all the kind words and gestures. Your support is very important and we all felt the love and respect that you have for our family ... Now it's time to be grateful for the life that we've just welcomed into this world."
On May 7, 2022, Ronaldo and Rodriguez revealed the name of their baby girl, a month after her birth, sharing photos of the baby girl with the caption, "Bella Esmeralda" alongside her birth date. Later that year, in an interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo opened up about the pain he and Rodriguez faced after losing their newborn son and sharing the sad news with the rest of their children about them losing their baby brother.
In December that year, after Ronaldo was benched during Portugal's World Cup match against Switzerland, Rodriguez supported him publicly.
"Congratulations Portugal," Rodriguez wrote on Instagram after the team won 6-1. "While the 11 players sang the hymn, all the goals were placed on you. What a shame not to have been able to enjoy the best player in the world during the 90 minutes. The fans have not stopped claiming you and shouting your name."
In January of 2023, Ronaldo posted a family photo of them vacationing in Saudi Arabia, shortly after Ronaldo signed with the Saudi Arabian football club, Al-Nassr F.C. The carousel of images shared by him showed him exploring the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh. In March that year, Rodriguez hit the runway at the Vetements Womenswear Fall/Winter 2024-2025 show at Paris Fashion Week. She modelled an ensemble that served as a special nod to her partner. She wore a red dress with the number seven — widely known as Ronaldo's jersey number, which he first wore when playing for Manchester United.

Ronaldo proposed to Georgina with an enormous oval-shaped diamond ring. On August 11, 2025, Georgina shared a post on Instagram announcing her engagement with the football star. Her engagement ring, a whopping 35-carat diamond, is estimated to be worth around $3 million.
