For Kevin Pietersen, reinvention has never been an unfamiliar territory. His transition from international cricketer to entrepreneur came organically. India, in particular, sparked that shift. In an exclusive interview with Dayle Pereira-Alemao, Associate Editor at HELLO! India, the former England cricketer opens up about life after the pitch, where his competitive instinct has found a new interest in business, investing, and personal wellness.

"I want to build a story and stay true to our roots"

Pietersen sees retirement not as an ending, but as a reinvention. The discipline, structure, and hunger that once defined his cricketing life now shape how he approaches each new chapter—whether that’s entrepreneurship, commentary, or personal growth. Drawn to the country’s vibrant energy and evolving consumer landscape, Pietersen found resonance with Dram Bell at Ardent Alcobev. Pietersen saw an opportunity not just to invest, but to participate in shaping a new narrative."I have learned that whether you’re facing a tough bowler or a business challenge, you need a great support system and the courage to stick to your game plan while adapting when needed", says the cricketer. Life after cricket, he believes, is about carrying forward the mindset of a professional athlete while allowing space to explore new passions.

“Fitness is a habit, part of my daily regimen.”

While the intensity of professional cricket has eased, Kevin’s commitment to fitness and balance remains unwavering. "The rigour and intensity of the cricketing days had reduced, but I still spend adequate time looking after by physical self. Along with spending time working out, I am an avid golfer, and this helps maintain a healthy mind and body", he says.

“I wanted to be a part of that winning mindset as India transforms its Alcobev landscape”

Unlike many celebrity investors who prefer to stay behind the scenes, Pietersen is deeply hands-on with his ventures. "I have always believed in seizing exciting opportunities. India’s vibrant business environment and market energy caught my attention", Kevin adds. He also reflects on how today’s athletes are increasingly embracing unconventional business paths and a genuine desire to build something meaningful beyond sport. "I have always encouraged fellow athletes to do their homework, partner with people they trust, and look at business as another team challenge, where the goalposts may change but the thrill of winning remains", he advises.

To Pietersen, building a business is akin to batting in test cricket—demanding patience, planning, and the courage to stick to your game while responding to changing conditions.
