From a sports-centric hard launch to their dog playing cupid, Charles Leclerc and Alexandra Saint‑Mleux's relationship timeline

To the world at-large, Charles Leclerc is a Formula 1 driver who captured global attention ever since he arrived on the adrenaline-pumping scene in 2018. It turns out that behind closed doors, the steely-eyed sportsman who has a need for speed is quite the romantic at heart. The Monégasque native and his girlfriend Alexandra Saint-Mleux took to social media to announce their engaged-to-be-married relationship status to the world, with a little help from their miniature dachshund pup, Leo. Early 2023: Spring beginnings

As spring bloomed in the start of 2023, so did Charles and Alexandra's relationship. Speculations arose when the couple were first spotted at Paris Fashion Week in March that year. It seemed like an unlikely collision of worlds: Charles, from the fast-paced Formula 1 track and Alexandra, an art history enthusiast and lifestyle influencer on TikTok and Instagram with millions of followers. But it was their shared love for travel, sports and all things elegant which proved to be their great unifier.

Mid-2023: A sports-driven hard launch

In May 2023, Alexandra was seen at the Ferrari paddock during the Monaco Grand Prix, presumably as a support system for Charles, who races for Scuderia Ferrari. They were snapped together at Wimbledon in July that year; which was one of their first public sightings. As the year went on, Charles and Alexandra also attended a basketball match where AS Monaco played versus Olympiacos Piraeus. Basketball seemed to be a shared passion for the couple as they were also photographed court side for a Los Angeles Lakers game.

August 2023: An Italian dream

The influencer and the sportsman took off to Sardinia to spend their late summer days in Italy, where they were photographed sunbathing on a yacht with their friends.

Early 2024: A new addition to the family

In April 2024, Charles welcomed home a new pet; his miniature dachshund Leo. "King Leo"; as he is fondly referred to by the couple, has since then been a constant feature in their days and enjoys a life of luxury as he is snapped with the couple, travelling on private jets and yachts.

Summer 2024: A time of togetherness

During the summer of 2024, the couple attended the Monte-Carlo Masters held in Monte-Carlo, Monaco in April that year. In June, they attended the New York red carpet premiere for the F1 movie in Times Square.

November 2025: She said yes

In the autumn season of 2025, Charles proposed to Alexandra in a romantic gesture featuring rose petals and candles in the shape of a heart. Leo was a pivotal part of the proposal as he donned a satin bow and a collar tag, saying "Dad wants to marry you" to Alexandra on behalf of Charles. The engagement also featured monogram pastries, bone-shaped biscuits for their dog who played cupid and hundreds and hundreds of red roses. Charles presented his now-fiancée with an oval-cut diamond engagement ring set on a pavé-diamond band in a proposal that is made for the books.
