Cannes 2025: Aishwarya Rai is the undisputed queen of Cannes. If there were still a doubt about it, her first appearance at the ongoing film festival for The History of Sound’s premiere cemented that fact. For the red carpet appearance, she wore a bespoke ivory saree and jewellery designed by Indian couture maestro Manish Malhotra, which didn't just adhere to the new dress code but was also a beautiful display of India's culture. Blending traditional with modern sensibilities is an ability not many possess. The Cannes veteran, though, has many feats up her sleeve as far as that is concerned. She continued to present herself as a tour de force the following day as well. Seen at the premiere of La Venue De L’avenir, she wore a black velvet gown paired with a champagne-gold cape, looking resplendent as ever.
The gown featured a linear cosmic design with beads and sequins that contour the silhouette. The gorgeous gown, designed by Gaurav Gupta is a fine example of how he creates something so beautiful, it makes Indian craft palatable to international tastes. It’s no wonder hence, that many international celebrities too are vying a piece of the pie; an exquisite Gaurav Gupta creation.
The hair and makeup perfectly complemented her attire. She styled her hair in a soft, loose waves, swept to the side and her classic signature makeup including a winged eyeliner and her perfectly red pout.
The accessories were kept minimal. Drop earrings, a statement ring and copious amounts of her confidence further added to the red carpet persona she is known for.
When Aishwarya Rai walks down the red carpet at Cannes, the spotlights don't leave her from the moment she arrives. Going by her trajectory of being a global icon and among the most influential names at the film festival's red carpet; who can blame her?
