Amit Aggarwal is renowned for his sculpted silhouettes, and the reimagining of traditional textiles but what lies behind it is his design process, which is is rooted in innovation and architectural precision. In an exclusive conversation with HELLO! India, Amit Aggarwal speaks to Dayle Pereira-Alemao about how versatile his muse is, who embraces individuality, and strength with grace as well as his creation of ceremonial wear that merges tradition with technology.

HELLO!: What is your design process like?

Amit Aggarwal: The design process begins with a concept rooted in nature, science, or emotion, followed by deep material exploration. I work with unconventional elements like metallic polymers and repurposed textiles to sculpt forms that merge structure with fluidity. It’s a balance of technology and handcraft creating garments that are modern yet deeply personal.

HELLO!: Who is the Amit Aggarwal muse and why?

Amit Aggarwal: I’ve never limited myself to a single muse. The Amit Aggarwal muse is not a person but a mindset - someone who embraces transformation, who is unafraid of standing out, and who carries strength with grace. She values tradition but seeks the future; she sees fashion not just as clothing, but as identity and expression. Each collection is shaped by this evolving energy that is fluid, bold, and unapologetically individual.

HELLO!: How did you combine the beauty of the French alps with couture?

Amit Aggarwal: With Exon, I wanted to explore the quiet, transcendent dialogue between nature and structure. The French Alps, with their majestic stillness, crystalline forms, and almost otherworldly light, became the soul of this collection. They offered not just a visual inspiration but an emotional one, a sense of clarity, resilience, and awe. What captivated me most was the interplay of textures the way ice fractures like delicate glass, how snow creates sculptural drapes over jagged cliffs, and how the light refracts into infinite prisms. I translated these elements into my couture language through metallic polymers, re-engineered fabrics, and structured drapes that mimic glacial flows. In that spirit, partnering with Grey Goose Altius felt instinctive. Their pursuit of purity, craftsmanship, and alpine inspiration mirrors our own journey with Exon. Together, we celebrate the art of elevation in form, in feeling, and in experience.

HELLO!: How were your signature elements showcased through this collection?

Amit Aggarwal: Exon reimagines our signature elements: structured silhouettes, metallic polymers, and fluid architectural forms, through a ceremonial lens. The use of industrial materials sculpted into organic shapes reflects our core philosophy: finding harmony between nature and technology. Each ensemble balances tradition with futurism, transforming ceremonial wear into a statement of strength, elegance, and innovation.

HELLO!: Which is your favourite piece you’ve ever created?

Amit Aggarwal: It’s hard to choose one, but a piece that’s very close to my heart is a sculpted lehenga we created using repurposed Banarasi fabric fused with metallic polymer. It embodied everything I believe in the revival of traditional Indian textiles through an innovative lens. The way the Banarasi weave held its heritage, yet transformed into something architectural and almost fluid, felt like the perfect balance of past and future. It wasn’t just a garment, it was a story of reinvention.

HELLO!: Which fashion trends do you see dominating the festive season?

Amit Aggarwal: This festive season, I see a rise in sculpted fusion silhouettes, metallics paired with sheer overlays, and pastel tones redefined with bold detailing. There’s a strong return to heritage textiles but interpreted with modern structure. I feel the consumers are looking at lighter, conscious couture that celebrates craft without excess.
