The spotlight shines bright on Indian craft and handloom. Italian luxury houses are turning East for design inspiration, and entrepreneurial Ambani protege, Isha Ambani's latest collaborative attire throws light on India once again. The Ambanis are known to uphold Indian heritage at the core of everything they do. Isha Ambani excels in the field using fashion as a medium to communicate the language of India's culture.
At her recent appearance, she was dressed to pristine perfection, depicting the perfect example of heritage meets haute couture. The pièce de résistance—a pink bandhani saree reimagined into a sculptural gown designed by the legendary Italian house, Roberto Cavalli. The attire was an embodiment of new-age, luxury draped in old-world charm with Indian handloom at the helm and Isha Ambani, the perfect muse.
The ornate gown, designed by the house's reigning Creative Director, Fausto Puglisi, is a recreation of Roberto Cavalli's previous collaboration collection from 2012. The gown elegantly fuses Indian craftsmanship with Italian couture, bringing the best of both worlds to the fashion forefront. Bandhani is known to be a laborious technique which only a few communities in Gujarat's Kutch region are known to specialise in. "A really special collaboration with Roberto Cavalli creating a couture gown for Isha that elegantly fused Indian craftsmanship with Italian couture. Handmade over months using classic Bandhani traditionally from Kutch, crafted by local artisans," said celebrity stylist Anaita Shroff Adajania, responsible for Isha Ambani's latest appearance on a recent Instagram post.
Her ensemble, a statement piece in its entirety, didn't require any added ornamentation. But when geniusly styled by Adajania, expect attention to detail. Her hair styled in soft waves, teamed with frosted makeup that doesn't distract from the rest of the attire, perfectly balanced her statement-making Hanut earrings.
Isha Ambani is known for championing Indian artisanship while embracing global couture. With this attire, she cemented this belief further. One doesn't hear gharchola and Valentino in the same breath, but she made it possible when she married Anand Piramal in 2018. That is the quiet confidence she comes with—born into legacy but shaped by vision.
