Gurugram's concrete jungle seems like a paradox the moment you step into the luxurious Oberoi Gurgaon. Slightly off the main Delhi-Jaipur Highway, the hotel transports the conscience to a different realm. For culinary connoisseurs, it's the easiest one-way trip to any part of the world. The recent stop is China, courtesy of the brand new, Madam Chow, which welcomed guests earlier this month.

The restaurant is nestled within a striking glass pavilion overlooking the hotel’s signature blue reflective pool, inches away from the entrance. Madam Chow seats 86 guests across intimate clusters, elevated platforms, and a dramatic mezzanine level with a private dining room that seats 12-15 guests. Designed as a living canvas of contrasts, the space embodies the timeless philosophy of Yin and Yang. Light and shadow interplay across stone, wood, and glass, while suspended ceramic tiles filter daylight into soft, shifting patterns. By day, the restaurant is bright, airy, and open; by evening, it transforms into a moodier, intimate space of layered textures, glowing shadows, and dramatic accents. Guests are enveloped in a sensory journey where architecture, craft, and cuisine merge in harmony from the moment they walk in.

At the heart of Madam Chow is its culinary philosophy, guided by two master chefs. Chef Wong Kwai Wah (Sam) and Chef Mark Lin. Chef Wong brings over 35 years of experience specialising in Guangdong and Sichuan cuisines. His cooking style is rooted in authenticity yet elevated for the modern palate, and it truly shines among his signature dishes like the Zhenglong Whole Silver Pomfret and hand-rolled Peking Duck Rolls.

Chef Mark is the master of the dim sum, balancing artistry with tradition with this stuffed goodness. His creations - Lychee Bonsai Bao, Sheng Jian Bao, Harmony Siu Mai, and Ocean Silk Cheong Fun - are a tribute to the craft of dim sum-making, perfected over more than a decade of international experience. The culinary journey doesn't end at the lavish savoury display. Guests can indulge in inventive desserts such as the Jasmine Tea Mai Lai Go, Slow-baked Chinese Red Date Pudding, and Sichuan Peppercorn Ice Cream, which offer an elegant finale.

No authentic Chinese culinary experience is complete without a traditional cup of tea for a fitting goodbye, and Madam Chow has more than a sip to offer. Signature cocktails and international wines aside, the tea selection marks a soothing, yet rejuvenating end, almost with an anticipation of returning sooner than one thinks.

With its seamless blend of legend, design, and culinary artistry, Madam Chow will redefine contemporary Asian dining in India, with each meal etched as a lingering memory on your taste buds.
