Barbara Palvin announces her pregnancy on the Cannes 2026 red carpet

Celebrities always find the most spectacular ways to announce the arrival of a new addition to the family. While the everyday joe relies on a social media post or a series of joyful phone calls to share the good news, they aren't like the rest of us where the sharing pregnancy announcements are concerned. With them, it's usually a larger-than-life spectacle that involves items like hot air balloons and dreamy shoot destinations. For Barbara Palvin and Dylan Sprouse, that involved one of the most famous red carpet walks in the world on a summer day in the South of France.

During their appearance at the 79th edition of the annual Cannes Film Festival, the Hungarian supermodel and the actor-slash-entrepreneur walked down the steps of the famous Hotel Martinez and onto the red carpet, where they made the brief-by-highly-viewed trot join the ranks of history. Barbara wore a pastel blue custom-designed Miu Miu gown with cap sleeves, a feathered hemline and an empire waistline that showcased an evident curve visible through her silhouette. Dylan matched steps with his Victoria's Secret supermodel wife in a navy blue tuxedo with black lapels and a bow tie. Their joint walk on the Cannes red carpet saw the couple look loved-up, as they affectionately embraced Barbara's bump. Shortly after the moment that left everybody guessing whether the stork really had visited them, the couple took to social media to officially announce their first pregnancy with a picture of a sonogram.

Last month, the couple left their fans guessing when they attended The Devil Wears Prada 2 movie premiere together but they made sure they officially announced their pregnancy in style; from the red carpet on the French Riviera.

Dylan and Barbara's pregnancy announcement joins notable Cannes pregnancy reveals in pop culture history; one of them by Angelina Jolie. In 2008, the superstar wore a striking green Max Azria gown to announce her pregnancy with ex-husband Brad Pitt, to the world. Her Cannes red carpet walk for the movie premiere of Kung Fu Panda also featured her co-star Jack Star imitating her baby bump with his frame against a Po mascot, marking it as an iconic-and-hilarious moment.

In 2016, Blake Lively hard-launched her second pregnancy with husband Ryan Reynolds at the Cannes Film Festival, eight years after Jolie. Her single-shouldered Atelier Versace gown with a fitted silhouette and high slit visibly featured a baby bump as part of her silhouette after previous appearances which concealed most of her form.

Cannes may be renowned for its celebration of cinema, style and luxury but a perfectly-timed celebrity moment can also make it a whole lot more.
