In a world full of trends, Zendaya and Tom Holland's love story is timeless

Earlier this year, Zendaya stole the spotlight at the Golden Globe 2025 awards without even winning an award. It was the 5-carat diamond on her ring finger that set the internet ablaze with rumours of her engagement with her long-time boyfriend, Tom Holland, which was confirmed a day later by TMZ . The two first met while shooting for Spider Man: Homecoming in 2016, where Tom played the titular character, Spider-Man, and Zendaya; as his love interest, MJ.  Their off-the-charts chemistry had fans speculating about dating rumours, but the two remained friends and didn't confirm they were dating until 2021. Since then, 'TomDaya'; which they were popularly named by the public, have been one of the most loved celebrity couples in Hollywood. 

Even after being massively famous, they have managed to keep their love life private; leaving their fans curious, especially with their upcoming nuptials on the horizon. Zendaya's stylist Law Roach, in a May 2025 interview with Complex, admitted that the two might have a private ceremony with just their loved ones surrounding them. 1. 2016 

Zendaya and Tom Holland first met when shooting for MCU's trilogy of Spider-Man, where the two were quick to become friends. In July that year, Holland posted an image of the two of them with a friend enjoying a swim, captioning it as "Summer Sundays".  In November, Zendaya shared their first cover together for The Hollywood Reporter. The two continued to hang out at many Hollywood events that year. 

2. 2017

By 2017, fans began speculation of their relationship and many guessed they had underlying feelings for one another as the two promoted Spider-Man: Homecoming together on various press junkets and interviews. Every tabloid was speculating about the nature of their friendship, with many articles being published on the two's alleged relationship but the two quick to steer clear of the rumours with some humorous banter on X. Zendaya, in an interview that year, confirmed that they were just friends.  

3. 2018 

The two were seen at the Academy awards seated next to each other, in March of 2018. In May that year, Zendaya attended the Met Gala and the Spider-Man actor cheered for his co-star, commenting, "All hail the queen. Killing it mate."

In June, for Tom's birthday, Zendaya posted a sweet video of him goofing around with a light saber with their Spider Man co-star Jacob Batalon. The Euphoria actress captioned the post "Happy Birthday, Loser" in a playful manner. Tom returned the favour in September during her birthday, captioning it as, "Me, myself and the birthday girl. Happy birthday mate - keep killing it and paving the way for the rest of us," fuelling the fire of their relationship status, once more. 

 4. 2019

In June 2019, Tom posted a picture of him with the Spider-Man cast. Zendaya called out Tom for his 'questionable' placement of her name tag in the post, commenting, "I'm assuming because you don't know how to work ig, that's the reasoning behind my name placement," accompanied by a couple of laughing emojis. The two shared their first on-screen kiss in Spider-Man: Homecoming, which released that year. Later in the year, Zendaya was spotted with Jacob Elordi, her Euphoria co-star on a vacation in Greece. The two dated until the spring of 2020; after which Elordi dated Kaia Gerber. 

5. 2020 

Tom Holland confirmed his relationship with Nadia Parkes in July of 2020, whom he was believed to be spending the lockdown with during the pandemic.

6. 2021

After breaking up with their respective former beaus, Zendaya and Tom finally got together in mid-2021. The two were papped kissing in a car in Los Angeles, and were seen visiting Zendaya's mother the very same day. In August, they were photographed at a common friend's wedding with Zendaya leaning on Tom. In September, Tom wished Zendaya for her birthday on Instagram in a post captioned, "My MJ, have the happiest of birthdays. Gimme a call when your up xxx."  Later that year, he posted a picture of Zendaya on his Instagram with a simple heart eye emoji.  

The two featured in multiple appearances and interviews later that year during the premiere of Spider-Man: No Way Home. During its London, Tom was seen looking for Zendaya while being interviewed; upon spotting her, he said, "There she is—looking beautiful, might I add." 

 After the release of their third movie together, Zendaya shared how proud she is of her boyfriend on Instagram in a post captioned, "My Spider-Man, I’m so proud of you, some things never change and good thing." 

7. 2022

Throughout 2022, they were spotted multiple times as they started dating and getting settled in their relationship. In January, Zendaya was spotted in London visiting Tom's family. For the premiere of Tom's film Uncharted in New York, Zendaya was seen supporting her boyfriend. Later, Tom flew to Rome to surprise Zendaya as the actress was filming Dune 2 there. An image of the two was shared by a restaurant they dined at in Rome.

In March, the two were spotted in Boston, where Zendaya was shooting The Challengers, at a cafe. In September, the two were seen celebrating her birthday along with her friends. After winning her first Emmy for playing Rue in Euphoria, the actress revealed that she shared the news first with her boyfriend, on being asked who she texted first after her monumental win. October saw the two young stars enjoying a dreamy vacation in Paris as, the two were spotted at The Louvre.

8. 2023 

In March of 2023, the two were seen grocery shopping together, where eagle-eyed fans spotted the actress wearing a ring with their initials, 'T' and 'Z'. In an interview in June 2023, Tom joked about his rizz by stating that he doesn't have any. "I'm happy and in love, so I've got no need for rizz. I have no rizz whatsoever; I have limited rizz... I need you to fall in love with me, really, for it to work."  He jokingly continued on how he plays the long game, "Probably making a movie with each other — it definitely helps when the characters are falling in love with one another; you can sort of blur the lines a little bit".  

9. 2024 until present 

According to Zendaya, Tom has a pretty stong rizz game. In her Buzzfeed puppy interview in February 2024, when asked who in the Dune cast has the best rizz,  Zendaya skipped past her co-stars and admitted her boyfriend has the best rizz, saying, "I think someone who has beautiful charisma, not in the Dune cast, but personally works for me, is Mr. Tom Holland. I’m more shy and kind of quiet. So it takes a bit more to pull me out of my shell. But he’s great at just talking to people, getting to know people." 

On March 17, 2024, the two were spotted having a date night in California enjoying a BNP Paribas game. This was the first time the young couple had a public date. In May 2024, Tom played the titular role of Romeo and Juliet at The Duke of York’s Theatre in London and Zendaya showed her support with a huge bouquet of roses. 

On October 24 of the same year, a clip of the two went viral when the two stepped out to celebrate the launch of Holland's non-alcoholic beer brand. Zendaya was seen wearing a burgundy dress by Louis Vuitton that grabbed the attention of paparazzi and fans alike. The 28-year-old actress was surrounded by the public with no way to move forward and Holland came to her heroic rescue and pulled her away from the crowd. 

Coming back to the present; in January 2025, Zendaya wore a 4-carat diamond ring which confirmed that the pair had gotten engaged during the holiday season of 2024. Their engagement has since been confirmed by Tom's dad, Dominic Holland. The two have many more milestones ahead and we can't wait to share in them.
