Pastels, peach and beige have had their moment under the limelight as far as bridal fashion is concerned, but red; now that's a shade which is forever. This was proven once again by Janhvi Kapoor; who fronted House of Masaba's latest bridal campaign in a red lehenga. With classic elements of gold, she looked ethereal and brought on the bridal drama. The lehenga worn by her features an interplay of shades of red with patchwork of tissues. Nature and heritage-inspired motifs like Mithi Makaai, Gul Jharokha and Kashmiri Kali come alive with hand embroidery to narrate a story of Indian cultures. It artfully married embroidery styles from different parts of the country as the Gujarati kamal kadai, Punjabi phulkari and Kashmiri kashidakari graced the magnificent lehenga.
Janhvi embodied the spirit of a radiant bride with a bindi placed in the centre of her forehead. Her hands were adorned with bridal chuda having elongated flowers in the shape of orchids attached to the bangles. The dupatta worn by her featured tassels on the side that flowed like a dream.
The lehenga was paired with a red dupatta, worn as a veil, that had a circular edge delicately fanned out. Hand-embroidered with the timeless Pankh Bagh motifs, it captured the beauty of delicate Indian craftsmanship. The gold embroidery on the sheer red dupatta added to its appeal and opulence, making the bridal lehenga fit for royalty.

Her soft smoky eyes shone through the sheer dupatta. Her lips were painted red; a stark contrast to her otherwise soft bridal makeup, which shone through the veil; creating soft shadows over her and enhancing the apsara-like styling.
Red has been the quintessential sartorial choice by Hindu brides for generations, as it's emblematic of love, prosperity and auspiciousness. Red, in certain Indian religions and cultures, is also associated with the vermilion mark worn by women after marriage to symbolise their togetherness. Representative of love and passion; this bold shade is sure to make the bride shine on her special day. After years of seeing beige and pastels replacing the colour red, it was bold to see the eldest Kapoor sister decked in a red bridal lehenga, giving brides the perfect inspiration to add to their mood boards, ahead of the great Indian wedding season.
