Summer 2025 does not belong to men clad in 6-pack abs and the perfect dusky tan. After BookTok made men reading look cool again (for the mainstream audience), men are turning to a softer, intellectual, charming aesthetic. Thanks to Jonathan Bailey and his feature in the Jurassic World Rebirth trailer alongside co-star Scarlett Johansson, the season is all about the dainty glasses that all the popular men are sporting.

While the thin-framed little glasses are currently associated with Jonathan Bailey, a number of the Internet's heartthrobs have been sporting these glasses for a while now. The likes include Pedro Pascal, Andrew Garfield, and Chris Evans. Ryan Coogler, Drew Strakey, Eric Dane and so on.

Specs on men in pop culture are no new feature. Remember Harry Potter and Clark Kent donning their famous spectacles? Closer home, Shahid Kapoor as Aditya Kashyap in Jab We Met could easily be credited to make this a popular trend in the Indian context.

It is evident that the allure of the barely-there specs lies in their subtle intellectual charm. Subsequently, it appeals to a growing desire among women for discerning men who love to read. This may well explain why this particular style of eyewear, which evokes quiet confidence and depth of a learned individual, elevates them to the status of the 'ideal' man.

These glasses may also be telling of the fact that the meaning of 'ideal man' for women has changed. Gone are the days of macho men with no imperfections. In 2025, women are looking for men with softer traits, high intellect, with charming personalities and straight out of a chapter of Pride and Prejudice.

In Bailey's own words during the premiere of Jurassic World Rebirth, he is thrilled that "people are having hormonal explosions linked to optical supports." Bailey is confident that glasses can go a long way as a fashion accessory and there's no denying that with the world turning to this popular accessory trend for the season. He adds, "I believe feeling confident, feeling cool, is about wearing what you love. I'll just wear my little glasses."

These glasses are no longer just for optical support; rather, they are a fashion statement, defining an entire category of men, and we're so here for it.
